Vehicles in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

An important political figure commented the attack made him without words and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
